Airport open 8/25/2023

At long last, our airport is now fully OPEN! The X’s at each approach have been removed and the NOTAM has been lifted.

E55 was closed since January 9, 2023 for a total of 228 days or 62% of this calendar year.

Please be aware of the four newly added holding position lines when you drive onto the airport property and operate your aircraft.

One of the four new holding position lines to alert people to the presence of the active runway (dashed line side).

Soon, we will have some additional signage at the main entrance to alert drivers of the new lines and what they mean. As always, only authorized people are allowed to cross the runway (east hangar tenants, owner employees, and pilots accessing their tied down aircraft or parked cars).

The entrance to the airport was widened by the owner.
Cones have been placed to give people a new visual reminder to read and abide by the signage.
Stop sign at the airport entrance with one of the new holding position lines beyond.

Some of the tie down loops still need to be replaced in the newly replaced pavement in the tie down area. So be aware of that when you select a spot to tie down your aircraft.

The Bower Family would like to thank Pacific Gas and Electric Company for making good on its commitment to have the repairs done to return the airport to prior use and to their contractors that did all of this work. Namely, Ghilotti, Wipf Construction, Pavement Recycling Systems, and Chrisp Company. Every one of them did high quality work and acted as our partners over the many months it took for this effort.

Remember that the airport is private property and is only open to the public for aircraft operations. The airport is not a public place for non-aviation activities. As you know, the airport owner, John Bower, lives at the airport so please continue to be respectful of his private space and his efforts to keep this airport open and accessible to the public for the last 49 years and into the future.

We hope to see you soon! Fly safely!
